This is the first release as Black Bikini. Lovely fruit of Finnish underground.
They are sometimes magus sounds to melt into the air, wriggling dark worms and lost pieces.
Black Bikini is a duo by Pentti Dassum(aka. umpio) and Jonna Karanka(aka. KUUPUU). They met many years ago in Turku and became friends. In the winter 2013 they locked themselves for three days in Pentti’s home studio to make music. They didn’t know how it would sound. Pentti spread out his impressive junk-instrument collection and Jonna started to harass her electric guitar. In between playing and recording they drank lot of coffee and ate sweets. Afterwards Pentti carefully connected the sounds together with his magic-paw. This is the score to arrange the space debris. Tapes, loops, junkstruments, guitar, bass, electronics, processing & manipulations were recorded to tape in the winter and autumn 2013, then assembled during winter 2013–2014 at Arkisto, Finland.
Pentti Dassum
Umpio is a noise project from Finland, started in 2006 by Pentti Dassum. It is mainly focused on amplified junk metal, contact microphones and electronic manipulation. The sound ranges from harsh noise to hypnotic drones and includes elements of granular glitch cut-ups. He also plays junks percussion in "Faarao Pirttikangas & Kuhmalahden Nubialaiset" (gospel/blues), bass in "Cosmo Jones Beat Machine" (boogie) and noise machines in "Romutus" (grindcore).
Jonna Karanka
Jonna Karanka is Finnish visual artist and musician. Karanka started to make music in 2002 when she got her hands on a four track cassette recorder. Later she named her solo project as Kuupuu. She's been an active member in the Finnish improv music scene for the past 13 years and has been playing in many bands like Avarus, Hertta Lussu Ässä, Hockey Night, Kukkiva Poliisi, Olimpia Splendid, The Anaksimandros, Way Of The Cross and so on.
